Google+ drops age limit to 13 years and older

Google has today announced that they are officially opening Google+ to users ages 13 down a few years from the original 18 years or older policy. Of course, together with this, Google has placed additional safety features such as opting in on audio and video content that is age sensitive.

Additional safety features include the option of just being able to view stuff that is deemed safe for the eyes of minors so I’m assuming these are videos and pictures that are wholesome.

You can check out more information over at Google+’s Blog site.

Disc Dumbbell makes good use of your dusty CDs and DVDs

We’ve reached the dawn that CD’s and DVDs are losing their value, many are turning to external harddrives, cloud storage and streaming services for their movies, audio and other files. Question is, what will you do with the pile of DVDs and CDs you have in your room?
Well, there’s this new concept designed by one Seung-il Kim which will allow you to recycle your old discs by turning it into weights for your dumbbells. It’s a rather smart idea and I hate for something like this to never moving to production status.

Windows Phone Manager Joe Marini fired after tweeting about unannounced Nokia device

Joe Marini, a Windows Phone Manager that has been with Microsoft from 2003 was forced to leave the company today following a tweet about an upcoming Windows Phone.
He started with a tweet saying:  “I just got a chance to try out one of the slickest looking #Nokia phones I have ever seen. Soon, you will too! #wp7″
This tweet prompted a follower to ask him how he would rate the device. In all stupidity, Marini answered with: “Overall I would say an 8. Solid feel, good camera, responsive UI, and nice little touches on the body construction”
Another follower then asked him why only give an 8 and he answered with the tweet that I think is what pushed him over the ledge.
The tweet went: “Yea, the camera was good, but I didn’t have optimal lighting. I’d like a larger screen too.”
With his last tweet, he practically gave away the phone’s strengths and weaknesses which is something that corporate spies get paid for.

Netflix transfers its DVD-delivery rentals to Qwikster

Netflix, to obviously focus their digital rentals which comprises of both home entertainment digital movie rentals and mobile digital movie rentals, have transferred their DVD-Disk only operations to a company called Qwikster. I still can’t believed how long it has been since Netflix started as I remember their DVD-by-mail service being around since the early part of last decade.
Now, Qwikster will handle the DVD-by-mail part along with game rentals. Mind you, that although the company is part of Netflix, it will act as a completely separate entity, so we can expect the service to be altered from billing to user interface.
